
Donald Trump said Thursday that if Democrats fail to get a deal on spending, he will veto the Senate’s tax legislation.
The president also said that he would not allow Congress to raise the debt ceiling again unless they included spending cuts in their legislation.
The president told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that he was not considering an automatic debt limit increase, but that he does not think it is a good idea.
He also reiterated his opposition to a debt ceiling increase.
The White House said that Trump is prepared to veto the measure if it includes spending cuts.

The Senate on Thursday approved a $1.5 trillion package of tax cuts and spending measures, and it is expected to pass the House before the end of the month.
